netClé (pronounced net-clay) is a unique customizable device that makes computers and laptops more user-friendly for people with mobility limitations, allowing them to stay connected and maintain their independence.
Created by a group of Tetra Society volunteers, netClé underwent an extensive period of testing and refining beginning in 2019 with the support of the Government of Canada. The project resulted in an affordable adaptive device for operating a computer, laptop, or tablet with minimal hand function.
What is netClé?
netClé consists of a small hub and a variety of connectable sensors, switches, and input devices that allow users to perform many of the functions of a computer mouse and keyboard with a touch from a single digit or limb!
At the heart of the netClé hub is a hardware-printed circuit board attached to a microcontroller that supports multiple input devices. The unique hub controller is customizable and can operate a range of computer commands and functions to suit user needs.
Some actions netClé can perform include:
- Moving the cursor across the screen
- Left and right mouse click
- Scrolling up or down
- Drag and drop
- Keyboard actions (including key combinations)
netClé is available in kits that include a netClé hub, a variety of input devices and the wires needed to connect them. Additional input devices can be added to either kit as optional accessories to accommodate individual accessibility needs.
